Dream Shadows: A Delicate and Ingenious Japanese-inspired Residential Apartment

The Dream Shadows residential apartment, designed by Chih Chieh Tien, is a stunning example of Japanese-inspired simplicity and ingenuity. This duplex apartment showcases the heartwarming charm of Japanese delicacy while incorporating ingenious ideas for a simple and fulfilling lifestyle.

The public area, consisting of the living and dining room, is skillfully embellished with a color aesthetic that combines dark and light tones to create a pleasant ambiance. The layout allows for the option of either a united, open space or separate, undisturbed areas. The central public area features a TV wall adorned with display shelves, effectively utilizing the indoor space while showcasing the intriguing design style.

The 198 square meter property is adorned with distinct textures and materials, including painted iron pieces, painted veneers, system boards, and ultra wear-resistant wood floors. The earthy color palette seamlessly blends the boundaries between spaces, preserving individual features and maintaining a consistent style throughout the apartment.

One of the design challenges overcome by Chih Chieh Tien was to create a space that exudes a sense of calm and simplicity while incorporating delicate textures that celebrate the beauty of everyday life. The result is a home that captures the essence of every wonderful moment.

The Dream Shadows project was completed in March 2019 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The design team, led by Chih Chieh Tien and including Tsung-Han Teng, meticulously researched and implemented various techniques to achieve the desired aesthetic and functionality of the space.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This award is bestowed upon designs that showcase outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
